Shoelace works because every woman on it can trust the next one. These are the things we all agree to when we join. They're short on purpose.
Who Shoelace is for
- Shoelace is for women aged 18 and over.
- One account each. Use your own first name and a recent photo of just you.
- Everyone is verified by a woman on our team before she can match. Don't share your account or let anyone else use it.
Meeting up
- First runs are in a busy public place, in daylight. Saturday parkrun is a good choice.
- Keep arrangements in Shoelace until you know each other.
- Tell someone you trust where you're going. Share my run sends them who, where and when, and the link expires after the run.
- You can leave at any point, for any reason. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
Be kind
- No harassment, hate, threats or bullying, and no pressure. If she doesn't reply or says no, leave it there.
- No sexual messages or images.
- Turn up when you say you will. If plans change, let her know as early as you can.
Respect each other's privacy
- Don't share someone's photos, messages or details outside Shoelace without her permission.
- Don't try to work out where another runner lives or follow her.
Keep it about running
- No selling, recruiting, fundraising or promoting other apps or businesses.
- No fake profiles, scams or spam.
If something's not right
- Block or report anyone, from her profile, your chat or a run. She isn't told who reported her.
- After each run we ask how it went and whether you felt safe. Your answer goes to our team, not to her.
- We review every report. Depending on what happened we may warn, suspend or remove an account. Removed accounts can't come back.
- If you're in danger, call 999 first.
